Happy 2014 everyone!
I thought I would start the new year off by sharing some very exciting news with everyone. I recently decided to be a part of a organization called Operation Groundswell. They are an organization that provide volunteer, adventure trips and I was very excited to apply to be a part of one. I filled out my application, had my interview and I was accepted. A few weeks ago I put down my deposit so that means it is official!
I applied to be a part of their Middle East Behind the Headlines program, and so that means I will be going to Israel and the Palestine Territories! I have never been to this part of the world and I have studied it for the last 3 years or so so I am very excited about this opportunity.
It is a backpacking trip and I will be there for about 5-6 weeks this summer. I have never been on a backpacking trip before and I need a 65-70L backpack. If anyone has any suggestions of one that I should purchase let me know. Please keep in mind I am a student and so I am not planning on spending $200 on a backpack. And if anyone has suggestions about what to see let me know because I have a week of independent travel so I can use some places to look up.
