Today is the day to choose a book that changed meaning after you read it years later. For most it is probably a book you read in high school, I know a common one is To Kill a Mockingbird. Well, for me it was a book I read in high school but it was one I read for my independent study book.
It is: Victorine by Catherine Texier.
On my goodreads you can see that I did not rate it very well and that is because I really did not like this book when I read it back in high school. I could not understand the decision she made and I thought the main character, Victorine, was selfish. Later, upon reflection, I realized that while I still do not agree with all of her decisions, I no longer see a selfish, self-absorbed woman, but a lost girl who never got the chance to explore and figure out what she really wanted in life.
Happy Reading!
