Caesarea is name that very clearly comes from Roman origin. It is along the beautiful Mediterranean coast and is home to a plethora of ancient ruins from when the Romans established this port in about 25 BCE. After the Byzantine's took over, this became the capital of the Palaestina Province.
It was fascinating to see ancient Roman architecture in the Middle East, a reminder of the extensive history of the region. While the ruins were still in impeccable shape after surviving countless wars and natural elements, I was captivated by the coastline and so I took a lot of pictures of the ocean.
This trip was also part of a tour I did through Abraham Tours. It was a popular one and we also went to Tiberias and Nazareth, taking us to the Southern tip of the Sea of Galilee where we also visited the Jordan River Baptismal Site.
